Modernizing Video Delivery and Content Management at CPAC, A Canadian Nationwide Broadcaster

CPAC, the Cable Public Affairs Channel, is a privately owned and bilingual licensed television service. It was created by a consortium of cable companies to provide an independent editorial voice for Canada’s democratic process. CPAC provides a window on Parliament, politics and public affairs in Canada and around the world. Today, CPAC programming is delivered by cable, satellite and wireless distributors to over 11 million homes in Canada and worldwide via its website, https://cpac.ca, and mobile app.

CPAC just completed a modernization of its digital video distribution workflows and web content management system to support an improved viewer experience at cpac.ca where they operate numerous live streams and provide over 50,000 hours of VOD content. Their goals include improved productivity and lowering costs by using a modern headless CMS running on public cloud infrastructure. Moving from a legacy CMS and several disjoint services and processes, CPAC now runs on a well integrated solution around CrafterCMS and AWS.
